Why Now ?

Queer spaces are disappearing and 2024 was a consequential election year. There are only a few Gayborhoods left in the country. Wilton Manors remains one of the Gayest, despite being in one of the most hostile states in the USA. Florida dug up rainbow crosswalks and removed pride flags, instituted bans on drag, LGBTQ+ positive books, and gender affirming care for kids, and withheld funding for queer arts organizations, and erased the LGBTQ+ page from the Travel Florida website. With all of this erasure, now is the time to chronicle this incredible community and this pivotal moment in history.

We have collected nearly 200 hours of interviews with local residents and captured almost every event over the past 3 years. Now we are in the midst of editing the feature length version of THE DRIVE but we do not have enough money to complete the film.
